The Community Pictures Series

The Community Pictures Series is a photographic project that challenges the desire to portray something which in fact eludes the genre of group portrayal; a community. It embraces this paradox as a tool to investigate how the notion of 'community' operates and manifests itself in certain contexts by way of people's response to an open invitation to come to a collective one time photo shoot.

The Dance Community Pictures are part of the Community Picture Series and were held in Cairo and Berlin, in the framework of Sarma's B-Chronicles. It is a site-specific, people-specific and time-specific project.
