Sarma provides a selection of websites that are supplementary and share an interest in reflection on dance and performance. They are listed under the following headings:

Ballet International Tanz Aktuell (www.ballet-tanz.de)
Ballettanz is Europe's biggest ballet and dance magazine. It keeps you informed of classical as well as of modern dance. The magazine is published in English and German and contains dance stories, interviews, international dance news, essays and reports. You won't find full articles on line, but you do get an impression of the magazine´s layout. The website is well-organized and offers a calendar listing the events of big companies in Europe.
Etcetera (www.e-tcetera.be)
Flemish magazine on theatre, dance, performance in Flanders and abroad, with a new editorial board and a new website. On the website, they publish the original English texts which are translated in Dutch for the magazine.
Dance Europe (www.danceeurope.net)
The monthly magazine Dance Europe (published in London) aims to provide an unbiased platform for dance throughout Europe. The website offers the tables of contents of current and back issues, but you can't read the full article. (To dispose of the latter, you will have to order the printed issue.) On the website of 'Dance Europe' you can find information about jobs and auditions, a dance calendar (with a European focus) and a message board, where readers can send messages to.
Dance Magazine (www.dancemagazine.com)
The website of this American Dance Magazine contains features, columns, a calendar (for dance events in the United States, Europe, Canada, New-Zealand, South-Africa and Singapore), reviews (also exclusive on line reviews). On the website, you find full articles as well as appetizers. Moreover, it provides a photogallery and you can find information about dance education and auditions.
Mouvement (www.mouvement.net)
Mouvement is a cultural magazine in French. Its website looks nice, but it will take some time getting to know how to use it.You can read interesting articles about visual arts, performance, dance, music, film, aesthetics,... The reader can react to the articles.
Critical correspondence
Critical Correspondence is an artist-driven project of Movement Research. The first iteration of Critical Correspondence was launched in March 2006 and was conceived as a platform to activate and develop critical discourse on dance and movement-based work. Critical Correspondence envisions an accumulation of voices and viewpoints that ultimately serves artists, critics, administrators and the public with an evolving verbal articulation of this art work.
Real Time (www.realtimearts.net)
The free, bimonthly published Australian magazine Real Time is also consultable on the Web. It contains full articles about performance, dance, festivals, visual arts, writings, music, film and digital media.
Tanznetz (www.tanznetz.de)
Tanznetz is an online dance magazine, realized in German (with some small sections in English). On the site you can find reviews, interviews, information about auditions and workshops and a calendar. The website´s focus is on Germany. Tanznetz considers its blackboard, where readers can react to articles, as an important part of the site. Unfortunately, this kind of reactions scarcely appear, since most questions on the blacboard are practical ones.
The Dance Insider - Flash Reviews (www.danceinsider.com)
On this site you can find instant impressions of performances, posted the day after the show. Most of the correspondents from the United States, Australia, France, ... are dancers, chorographers or dance teachers; some of them are writers. The reviews, about big ballet and modern dance companies, are also available in print. If you join the email list, you receive a free email letting you know when new Flash Reviews are posted.
Voice of Dance (www.voiceofdance.org)
Voice of Dance was founded in 1996 as a vehicle for dance enthusiasts to voice their opinions and thoughts about dance. On the site you can find reviews, a chatroom, a lot of message boards on specific topics (auditions, ballet, modern dance, health, ...), a calendar, an image gallery, an on line store and a lot of links to other dance sites. You can look for past reviews and post your own ones. The reviews do not appear on the website, but Voice of Dance provides (when available) links to newspapers in which the required reviews were published.
Critical Dance (www.criticaldance.com)
The site of Critical Dance is one dedicated to all types of performance dance (with focus on ballet and modern). It is administred by dancers and dance writers. Critical Dance wants to encourage wide-ranging debate on dance. The site includes reviews, features, interviews, newsletters, calendar, gallery, forum.
Tanz der Dinge (www.tanzding.ch)
Tanz der Dinge is a Swiss magazine in German. The magazine, aiming at dance enthusiastics, creaters and researchers, provides background information about the creation of dance in Switzerland and abroad. On the website you can find tables of contents of the current and back issues, but you will only bump into a small number of full articles.

Dance Heritage Coalition. Dance Research Resources (www.danceheritage.org)
Dance Heritage Coalition is a network, founded in 1992, in order to strengthen the documentation and preservation of American Dance. The visitor of this website can search the collection´s catalogue. He can also learn something about archives organization. Very interesting is the information you get about the search catalogues of The New York Public Library (with exercises), Harvard university, Library of Congress, Ohio State University, Stanford Universtiy and the Universtity of California.
The Australian Dance Collection : a Directory of Resources (www.nla.gov.au/ausdance/)
This directory lists Australian dance resources (across a variety of media : film, video, oral history, manuscripts, pictures) that are currently accessible in Australian research collections. It's possible to search the online directory.
The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts : Dance Collection (catnyp.nypl.org/search)
The New York Public Library disposes of an important dance- and performing arts-focused collection (monographs, films, videos, periodical articles. You can search the catalogue on this site.
Library of Congress
The Library of Congress is America's national library and the largest library in the world. You can find the dance collection in the Music Division of the Performing Arts Reading Room. Visitors of the site can search the catalogue of the Library of Congress online.
Deutsches Tanzarchiv Köln (www.sk-kultur.de/sk-kultur/tanz.htm)
The archives preserve testemonies concerning dance art, photographs, books, magazine articles and programmes. They contain 130 collections of dancers, choregraphers, dance teachers and critics. Important collections are the William Forsythe Collection and the Isadora Duncan Collection. The library holds important dance magazines and videos.

On the website you can search the catalogue of the Music/Dance Library of Ohio State University. On the site you can also find a Music/Dance FAQ, a guide answering frequently asked questions in the Music/Dance Library (biographical information, music resources, contact information for individuals, organizations and institutions).
Cross Cultural Dance Resources (www.ccdr.org/library.html)
CCDR is a non-profit organization, dedicated to research on dance. CCDR wants to enhance global understanding of cultures through dance and about dance through cultures. The library of CCDR is a non-lending library, open to the public two days a week. The library is divided into two sections : the Browns Library, which is exclusively devoted to dance , and the White Library, providing background materials (performance, folklore, anthropolgy, ...). The library catalogue can be searched online.

Vlaams Theater Instituut (VTi) (www.vti.be)
Vlaams Theater Instituut (VTi), support centre for the performing arts in Flanders.
Vlaams Theater Instituut stimulates public debate by means of research, publications and workshops. It functions as a meeting point for information on the past, present and future of the performing arts in Flanders. The collections include books, documents, videos, photos, posters, annual and production programmes and a great many periodicals. In addition, VTi gathers information in a database. Searches can be made in the catalogue or database online: www.vti.be (click 'catalogue' or 'database' button). The website furthermore provides information on creations, festivals, conferences, publications, auditions, jobs ...
Congress on Research in Dance (www.cordance.org)
Congress on Research in Danse (CORD) wants to encourage dance research and promote the accessibility of research materials. CORD exchanges ideas, resources, ... through publications, conferences and workshops. The organization focuses on the dance scholar.
Contredanse (www.contredanse.org)
The mission of the Belgian organization Contredanse is supporting and stimulating the creation of dance. The five main intentions of Contredans' are : documentation, information, publication, education and organization of conferences. On the website you can also find NDD-info, i.e. information about creations, festivals, conferences, publications, auditions, ...
DanceNow: DansDesk (www.dancenow.nl)
DansDesk is an information- and service point in the Netherlands for everbody with an interest for or working in the domain of professional dance. DansDesk offers brochures, magazines and an extensive database of addresses. DansDesk publishes a newsletter once a month, with up-to-date information on the dance sector (auditions, open classes, financial news, publications, ...) Members of DansDesk receive it for free.
European Dance Research Information Directory (www.c3.hu/~dienesbu)
EUDRID is the first English-language directory of European institutions and individuals, engaged in dance research, history, theory and documentation. EUDRID contains contact information about dance research and documentation in more than 30 European countries (in word documents). You can find a lot of information, but keep in mind that it is far from being exhaustive.
Dance Usa (www.danceusa.org)
Dance/USA is America´s service organization for not-for-profit professional dance. Its purpose is advancing the art form of dance by addressing the needs, concerns and interests of professional dance. On the website you can find information on membership, resources and job opportunities. Dance/Usa supports NIPAD (National Initiative to Preserve America's Dance) and NCCI (National College Choreography Initiative).
Danz (Dance Aotearoa New Zealand) (www.danz.org.nz)
DANZ claims to be " the national umbrella organization shaped to meet the needs of dance in all its diversity ". DANZ offers information and advice. The website provides tasters of the DANZ magazine and a diary and bulletin in pdf-files. So you will need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to read these files. The articles aren't really up-to-date.
Australian Dance Council (Ausdance) (www.ausdance.org.au)
Ausdance is a service and advocacy organization which provides a united voice for dance in Australia. Its mission is facilitating, educating and inspiring the Australian dance community to reach its potential as a dynamic force within local, national and international communities. Its website provides information on research, education, publications, companies and events.

When you are looking for stage events in the Netherlands, you can visit this Dutch site. You can also find some activities taking place in Belgium and Germany. With search function.
San Diego Art and Sol. Your online guide to San Diego's Art and Culture (www.sandiegoartandsol.com)
San Diego Art and Sol wants to promote the rich cultural diversity of San Diego. It is a collaboration and partnership of numerous organizations (the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture, the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau, and others) On its website you can look for arts and culture activities. The information provided about the events is quite extensive (location, prices, content, contact information, ...).
Voice of Dance Calendar (www.voiceofdance.org/Events/VODCalendar.cfm)
The online magazine Voice of Dance has an extensive calendar. Voice of Dance is based in San Fransisco and focuses on the USA. You can search the calendar by city or dance style. It only gives basic information (location and contact information), however.

Arts Books.com is an online shop, solely dedicated to the performing arts. On this site you can buy books, music, videos, DVDs, ... about all kinds of arts (dance, music, theatre, film, ...). You can also write online reviews about books, videos, ... available in the shop. The site gives practical information on how to shop.
Kultur Video Collection (www.kulturvideo.com)
Kultur Video sells cultural videos and DVDs about opera, ballet, dance, music, art, literature and history. The videos sold are about rather popular ballets and well-known companies. In addition to perfomance videos, instructional videos are also sold.
Dance Books (London) (www.dancebooks.co.uk)
Dance Books London claims to be the only company in the world devoted to the publishing and retail sale of books, CDs and videos on dance and human mouvement. Dance Books publishes the magazine Dance Now. The website doesn't provide much information on the books and videos they sell.

At Amazon.com you can order lots of books (and also videos and DVDs) about dance. Readers can write appreciations of the books that are sold.

Dance links is an American site, run by Amy Reusch. This site provides a lot of links to websites of companies (ballet and modern / contemporary dance), newsgroups, dance organizations, funding resources, dance schools, university dance and web indexes for dance. Most of the sites focus on the USA, Europe, Canada, New Zealand and Australia, but you can also find South-American, Asian and Russian sites.
Sapphire Swan Dance Directory (www.sapphireSwan.com/dance/)
Sapphire Swan Dance Directory provides links to three kinds of websites : sites that have good collections of links, sites that include information about an area of dance, and finally selected sites of dance organizations and individual dancers. The websites are organized by dance style and by other dance categories (books, schools, web indexes, ...) The division is not very clear.
